Midnight Air
A slow exhale of a song — written for the drive home along the water, when the venue lights are off and the night finally belongs to you.
Midnight Air began as a breathing exercise. Our singers hum it at the end of every late session — one long phrase on a single breath, softer each time, until the room goes quiet on its own.
We recorded the final vocal in one take at half past midnight, windows open to the harbor. You can hear a gull in the second verse. We kept it. The song is about surfacing for air after holding everything in all day — the way a whale rises once, breathes deeply, and disappears again.
Layered tape loops, a felt piano and a low tide of sub-bass carry the vocal without ever crowding it. It is the most-streamed Harbor Lights release, and the one students ask to learn first.
From the Song
the whole wide day —
then let the midnight air
carry it away.”

Midnight Air is taught breath by breath in our beginner vocal course — no experience needed, only curiosity.
